The Association and Trey Harris Amicably Settle Lawsuit

“To be on the outside looking in when you inherit a case was extremely tough but not defending the core values of this Association, one that has been in the national forefront of diversity, equity and inclusive initiatives and breaking through discriminatory barriers was not an option,” said Commissioner Blanford-Green.

The Colorado High School Activities Association and former Sand Creek High School Assistant Basketball Coach Trey Harris have amicably resolved all issues between them. Mr. Harris and CHSAA were previously involved in a lawsuit over the 2017 Sand Creek High School termination of Mr. Harris’s employment.

CHSAA and Mr. Harris have always shared the same goal — to create a positive and equitable environment that enriches the lives of student athletes. CHSAA condemns unlawful discrimination in all of its forms. CHSAA will work with Mr. Harris in the future, as it does with all coaches committed to serving high school, education-based programs.

CHSAA wishes Mr. Harris and his family the very best
