No. 3 Simla football wins 54-20, remains unbeaten

Normally, when a team wins the toss, they elect to defer to the second half. Simla won the toss, but wanted none of that. It didn’t matter that there was a light rain falling. Or that there was a stiff wind rushing out of the north. The Cubs wanted the ball.

On Simla’s second play from scrimmage, TJ Eurich broke free on the left side. Fifty-five yards later, he was in the end zone. Simla had had 6-0 lead, soon to become 8-0.

They would never relinquish the lead. When quarterback Caston Cox hit Brent Bowker for a 53-yard touchdown strike to put Simla up 20-0, Calhan responded with a Logan Jack kickoff return for a touchdown. For a moment, it looked as if Calhan could find their way back into the game.
