Commissioner’s Corner: CHSAA’s Mission and Vision

By Mike Krueger, CHSAA Commissioner

In this first installment of the Commissioner’s Corner, I wanted to reaffirm the importance of our shared mission and vision. Our commitment to these core principles is instrumental in shaping the future of high school athletics and activities in the great state of Colorado.

Mission of CHSAA
In pursuit of excellence, the Colorado High School Activities Association strives to create a positive and equitable environment in which all qualified student participants are challenged and inspired to meet their highest potential.

What this means for our CHSAA staff is that we remain committed to serving our member schools as you work to provide these valuable opportunities for our students.

Vision of CHSAA
“Seeking Excellence in Academics, Activities and Athletics.” What this means for our CHSAA staff; we envision a future where every student in Colorado has access to a well-rounded education that includes participation in high school sports and activities. Through these experiences, we aim to inspire, develop, and prepare young individuals for life’s challenges and successes.

It is vital for all of us, as member schools, to uphold these fundamental principles in every decision we make and action we take. Here are a few ways in which we can collectively contribute to the realization of our mission and vision:

  1. Promote Equity: Ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in CHSAA-sanctioned sports and activities, regardless of their background, gender, or abilities.

  1. Character Development: Emphasize the value of sportsmanship, integrity, and teamwork as integral components of high school athletics and activities.

  1. Community Engagement: Encourage involvement and support from the local community, making sports and activities an essential part of our educational culture.

  1. Student Welfare: Prioritize the well-being of students by providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters personal growth and resilience.

  1. Adaptation and Innovation: Stay current with trends and challenges in high school sports and activities, adapting to meet the evolving needs of our students and member schools.
