2A Boys Soccer: Three Teams Ranked Outside Top Five Reach Semifinals

AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association completed three of the 2023 2A Boys Soccer State Championship Tournament’s four quarterfinal matches on a snowy Saturday in Colorado. The remaining game — a battle between Bishop Machebeuf and Loveland Classical — will be played Monday.

The winners will advance to the semifinals, with teams competing Nov. 4 at Denver’s All-City Stadium. Semifinal tickets will be available for purchase. The state championship game will follow on Nov. 11 at Switchbacks Weidner Field, and tickets are already available for purchase on SeatGeek.

No. 6 seed Crested Butte advanced to the semifinals by defeating No. 14 seed Heritage Christian 2-1, thanks to an overtime goal.

Awaiting Crested Butte in the semifinals will be No. 7 seed Denver Christian. Denver Christian reached the semis by scoring a goal late in regulation to sneak past No. 15 seed Jefferson 1-0.

On the other half of the bracket, No. 8 seed Telluride advanced to the semifinals after upsetting No. 1 seed Vail Mountain. Following a 0-0 tie, Telluride outscored Vail Mountain in a shootout (7-6) to reach the next round.

In the semifinals, Telluride will face the winner of Monday’s Bishop Machebeuf vs. Loveland Classical game.
