1A Baseball: District Championships Completed, Automatic Bids Secured

AURORA — The Colorado High School Activities Association’s 1A baseball district tournaments were completed with championship games Friday and today, solidifying the regional tournament automatic bids from each district. The district tournaments were completed over the course of five days.

For districts with fewer than five teams (District 2 and District 3), only the district champion received an automatic bid for a regional tournament. Meanwhile, in districts with at least five teams (District 1, District 4 and District 5), both the district champion and runner-up received automatic bids for a regional tournament. The remaining spots will be determined by the CHSAA Seeding and Selection Index.

Brackets for the regional tournaments will be released on Monday.

In District 1, Dove Creek beat Nucla, 7-6. In District 2, Simla knocked out Evangel Chrstian Academy, 14-9. In District 3, Flatirons Academy defeated Rocky Mountain Lutheran, 8-4, to punch their ticket to regionals. In District 4, Eads advanced past Stratton, 13-5. In District 5, Merino outscored Otis, 20-19, to earn the district crown.
