Seedings Index to be Used as Weekly Rankings for Fall Sports

AURORA – In lieu of weekly coaches polls for team sports, the Colorado High School Activities Association will publish its Seedings Index as weekly polls for field hockey, flag football, football, boys soccer, softball and girls volleyball this fall.

The first softball ranking is live now, while the first field hockey, flag football, boys soccer and girls volleyball rankings will go live next Tuesday, Sept. 3. The first football ranking will be published on Monday, Sept. 9.

The CHSAA Seeding Index is one of the main tools used to determine qualification and postseason seedings for all team sports. Unlike coaches polls, the rankings can be updated hourly, ultimately giving teams, coaches, schools and fans a better understanding of where a team ranks throughout the season, especially in the lead up to the postseason.

In order to qualify for the CHSAA Postseason Seeding Index, teams must meet a minimum number of games played. Games and minimums are determined by MaxPreps and vary by sport and time of the season. With that, the Seedings Index will not be available at the start of every season. The rankings will be published once teams get deeper into their seasons (approximately 3-5 weeks into a particular season).

All live data can be found on the CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index website and the week-by-week rankings (including preseason coaches polls) can be found on the Weekly Rankings website.
