5A Boys Golf Northern Regional: Cherokee Trail, Valor Christian Battle for Individual, Team Titles

BROOMFIELD – Valor Christian’s Campbell McFadden signed for an 8-under 64 at the Broadlands Golf Course Tuesday to take home the 2024 Boys 5A Northern Regional medalist honors, while Cherokee Trail turned in a 5-under 211 team score to win the team championship.

The Eagles also finished the day under par, at 2-under 214, to finish second in the team race.

In total, the top five golfers all turned in scores under par, with Cherokee Trail’s senior Christopher O’Donnell and junior Dalton Sisneros tying for second at 3-under 69 and Castle View’s Gavin Amella taking fourth at 2-under 70. One stroke back of that, and in fifth place, was Valor Christian senior Ian O’Fallon at 1-under 71.

Cherokee Trail junior Brayden Forte took sixth with a 1-over 73, while Legend claimed three of the next four-best scores as senior Jack Nottingham was seventh (3-over 75), junior Jake Dost tied with Erie junior Sean Cary for eighth (4-over 76) and Jack Kennedy finished in a five-way tied for 10th with Legacy’s senior Jensen Riederer and sophomore Mason Lundstrom and Boulder’s sophomore Sam Skubic and freshman Pierce Johnson. All five golfers turned in scores of 5-over 77.

Among the team race, Legend and Castle View tied for third at 12-over 228, while Legacy and Erie tied for fifth at 16-over 232.

CHSAA’s 2024 5A Boys Golf State Championship at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7 and 8.
