AURORA – The first four games of the Field Hockey State Championships are in the books with the other four first-round games scheduled for tomorrow.
With a win tonight, No. 3 Arapahoe, No. 4 Regis Jesuit, No. 6 Denver East, No. 9 St. Mary’s Academy all advanced to the quarterfinal round of the main championship bracket, while No. 7 Smoky Hill, No. 10 Boulder Valley School District, No. 13 Poudre School Distrist and No. 14 Dakota Ridge all move on to the quarterfinal round of the consolation bracket.
Arapahoe advanced to the main championship bracket by defeating Dakota Ridge, 4-0, tonight, while Regis Jesuit defeated Poudre School District, 6-0, Denver East downed Boulder Valley School District, 2-1, and St. Mary’s Academy beat Smoky Hill, 1-0.
In the main championship bracket, Arapahoe and Denver East will meet in the quarterfinals, while St. Mary’s Academy will await the winner of tomorrow night’s game between No. 1 Colorado Academy and No. 16 Grandview and Regis Jesuit will meet the winner of No. 5 Kent Denver and No. 12 Cheyenne Mountain.
In the consolation quarterfinals, Smoky Hill will face the loser of the game between Colorado Academy and Grandview, while Boulder Valley School District will take on Dakota Ridge and Poudre School District will await the loser of Kent Denver and Cheyenne Mountain.
The quarterfinal round on will be a single-elimination bracket for both the main championship bracket and the consolation bracket. All quarterfinal games will be played on Thursday, Oct. 31 with the winners advancing to the semifinals.
The semifinals and championship games for both brackets will be hosted at DPS All-City Stadium. The championship bracket semifinals will be on Monday, Nov. 4, followed by the consolation bracket semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Both championship games will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
