AURORA – The top seeds advance in all seven first-round 1A football playoff games completed this weekend, while No. 13 Holyoke snuck past No. 4 Centauri on Monday to post the first upset of the bracket.
No. 1 Wray, No. 2 Forge Christian, No. 3 Limon No. 5 Buena Vista, No. 6 Wiggins, No. 7 Meeker and No. 8 Highland all advanced to the quarterfinal round.
No. 1 Wray knocked off No. 16 North Fork, 48-14, to advance to the quarterfinal round where it will face No. 8 Highland. In the first round, Highland shutout No. 9 Flatirons Academy, 24-0.
No. 2 Forge Christian shutout No. 15 Yuma, 42-0, to advance and will next face No. 7 Meeker, which got past No. 10 Monte Vista, 44-34, in the first round.
No. 3 Limon knocked off No. 14 Platte Valley, 20-10, to move on and face No. 6 Wiggins, as Wiggins knocked off No. 11 Colorado Springs Christian, 49-12.
No. 13 Holyoke will advance to face No. 5 Buena Vista, which defeated No. 12 Burlington, 21-7, in the first round. Holyoke upset No. 4 Centauri, 33-30.
