Ball Fever: Big School Boys Hoops League Titles on the Line! Top 10 Preview For The Week

Welcome back, hoops fans! We are getting close to our annual March #MileHighMadness but before the playoffs arrive we have league titles and final seeding on the line.  Let’s take a look at how the Seeding Index has fared and what’s on tap this week:

Tuesday 2/11:
Well the week starts off hot with “TOP 5 ALERT” in Lutheran vs Discovery Canyon in 5A! Lutheran is traveling to Discovery Canyon for their second match up of the season.  Lutheran won by 10 in the first match up, at home, and now look to move to 7-1 in league play if they can grasp the win.

Also in 5A, Dakota Ridge is now at #5 and they host Golden on this night in a game with high implications for League title with the home team at 6-0 in league while the visiting Demons are 5-1.

In 6A, Horizon is now #6 at 17-3 overall and hosts Frederick. Horizon Hawks look to stay unbeaten in league play behind “stat-stuffin” Noah Sokolowski’s 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game!

Back to 5A action, Cheyenne Mountain is 14-5 and looks to keep Air Academy without a league win. Cheyenne Mountain won the first game by 13 points at home but travel to Air Academy for Round 2!

“6A TOP 10 ALERT!”  It’s a big one as #2 undefeated Ralston Valley faces #8 Valor Christian for the second battle of the year.  The Mustangs won the first game at home by 7 but now Valor is home and league title on the line!

Wednesday 2/12:
After two impressive wins in a row last week, Eaglecrest jumped up to #2 in the Seeding Index and due to some tough Centennial League losses, Arapahoe has dropped out of the top 10. The Raptors look to remain unbeaten in league play while the Warriors can’t afford another loss!

Big fella Drew Paine has #8 ThunderRidge sitting with only one loss in Continental play and very much alive for the title which makes this annual tilt at Heritage a must win!

There’s our Ball Fever 6A “sleeper” in #9 Mountain Vista vs #6 Regis Jesuit: “6A TOP 10 ALERT!”. The teams come in with identical 15-4 records but Mountain Vista has league title aspirations and looks to remain unbeaten if they can pull the “upset” on the higher ranked Raiders. Both squads averaging over 70 points per night so this should be a fun one!

Speaking of Continental League coming down to the wire, we have another unbeaten squad led by “super soph” Christian Williams in #3 Chaparral who look to keep the momentum going vs. Castle View on the busy league night.

Traditionally, it’s one of the best City match ups, but in a bit of a down year for Denver East, #1 Rangeview looks to head to the Angels’ house and continue their undefeated run in league and overall play. Rangeview is led by senior point guard LaDavian King averaging 16 points per outing for the 18-0 top ranked BIG DOG in the state!

Thursday 2/13
In 5A, #3 Discovery Canyon is in it’s second night of action this week vs. #8 Cheyenne Mountain for our “5A TOP 10 ALERT!”. This is round 2 of this battle of rivals and the Thunder look to avenge the 6-point road loss suffered just last week!

After a 3-0 week Valor Christian is up 3 spots in this weeks Seeding Index at #5 and should cruise in league play against Lakewood who unfortunately is yet to win a game this season.

#3 Lutheran looks to take down Lewis Palmer for the second time this season after gaining a 15 point win earlier in season but this is not the same LP Rangers from early in the season. The Rangers have won 6 of their last 7 games and have been hot!

New to the 5A Top 10 is Severance, coming in at #10 and looking to beat Roosevelt for the second time this season.  Severance rolled to a road win by 18 points the first time these two faced.

Also new to 5A Top 10 is a hot Standley Lake squad that has ran off three wins in a row and jumped to #7. They’ll be looking for a fourth-straight win in a matchup with D’Evelyn.

The sharp shooting Braketa brothers and #4 Ralston Valley back in action again this week and The Mustangs look to roll over Columbine who they beat by 30-plus points in their first bout.

Friday 2/14
Don’t look now but the boys out west at Fruita Monument have joined the Top 10 at 6A #10 with their stat-stuffer Jhett Wells 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks per game keeping them unbeaten in league action.

“6A TOP 10 ALERT!” with a battle of the private schools as #5 Valor Christian hosts #6 Regis Jesuit in what is sure to help Continental League standings. Defending champ Valor and prolific scorer senior Cole Scherer have one loss in league and hope to keep it that way.

Valor and Regis will be keeping a close eye on another Continental battle between Mountain Vista (unbeaten in league) and one loss ThunderRidge will be on the Grizzlies floor. ThunderRidge is tough at home!

Why not one more meaningful #FridayNightLights Continental League match where the young and coming Chaparral Wolverines look to close the week vs. their Parker rival Legend and anything can happen in a backyard brawl!

#1 Rangeview and their complete squad hit the floor again this week in another rivalry where you can throw the records out the window! It will be tough on the Raiders home floor, where they obviously haven’t lost this season, but Vista Peak will come to play.

We’ll see if 5A #1 Mesa Ridge can top a hot Lewis Palmer squad early in the week (Tuesday) and set up this opportunity to go unbeaten in league vs. Coronado in a late 7:30pm start down south.

Windsor dropped one notch to #6 in 5A this week and they are one of the Fever Crew’s favorite social media follows! Win or lose, the Wizards represent on and off the court…looking for a late Friday night win up north at Fort Collins.

Saturday 2/15
To close out our coverage, the third game of the week for Bryce Riehl (18 points per game) and #1 Mesa Ridge who are likely to end the week on a high vs. Palmer Ridge and Logan Boyer’s 19 points per game.

Should be great action to close out regular season play this week for some of our Top 10 squads.  COLD weather is on the way! BUT, it’s always 72 & Sunny in the gym! Get out and enjoy… #BallFever
