Skiing: Alpine State Championships Set For Thursday, Friday in Aspen

AURORA – The 2025 Colorado High School Activities Association’s Alpine State Championships will be held this Thursday and Friday at the Aspen Highlands in Aspen. This will mark the first-ever Alpine Skiing State Championship, as alpine and nordic used be a combined skiing championship. 

Thursday’s race schedule will feature the Giant Slalom races, while Slalom will take place on Friday. The first run will be at 10 a.m. both days, with the second run at 1:15 p.m. The girls will go first, followed by the boys. Awards will be given following the conclusion of the races each day, with the team champion being crowned after Friday’s races.

Tickets are available for $86 per day at the Highlands ticket window but only for those who accompany a race participant. Bib number needs tobe provided at the window. 

Free parking is available at the Aspen Chapel or Brush Creek Park & Ride. 

  • From Aspen Chapel (77 Meadowood Dr., Aspen), walk over the pedestrian bridge to the bus stop. Make sure to flag down RFTA bus travelling to Castle Maroon.
  • From Brush Creek (25700 Highway 92, Snowmass Village), this is a key transit stop for those heading to Aspen Highlands, so take the “L” (Local Valley) or “BRT” Upvalley bus to the 8th Street bus stop in Aspen. Cross the street to catch the CM/Castle Maroon bus, which takes you directly to the Highlands. 

Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., RFTA will run five buses during peak times on Maroon Creek Road, offering frequent service to Highlands.
