COLORADO SPRINGS — The opening games of CHSAA’s 4A State Baseball Tournament took place Friday.
No. 3 Golden and No. 4 Windsor emerged as the only unbeaten teams after the opening day and have advanced to a semifinal matchup Saturday at 2 p.m. (Saturday’s starting times have been moved up 30 minutes due to expected incoming weather.)
Golden beat No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain 7-4 in the opening round before topping No. 2 Falcon 13-6. Windsor beat No. 5 Palisade 9-2 before earning an 8-2 win over No. 1 Pueblo County.
The double elimination tournament continues Saturday with elimination games at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Four teams will be eliminated Saturday, and the remaining four teams will advance to play again next weekend, with games May 30 and May 31.
