  • Valor Football vs. Heritage Eagles

Even with a rain storm and cold weather, a large crowd showed up to the game to support our Valor Eagles against Heritage High School. Within the first two minutes of the game, Christian McCaffrey scored a touchdown putting us ahead by 7 points. On Valor’s second possession, Marcus Wilson scored his first touchdown of the night on a long pass play making it 14 to 0. On the very next Valor possession, Christian had a long run ending in a touchdown. Heritage came back to score a touchdown leaving the score at 21 to 7 at the end of the first quarter. Half way through the second quarter Marcus scored again on a 79 yard touchdown pass, putting Valor up 28 to 7.

Not long after, Marcus scored his third touchdown of the night right before halftime.  In the third quarter, Trey Hanley had a 50 yard touchdown reception and Stone Watson had another to make the score 49 to 7 in favor of Valor.  Dylan McCaffrey scored the Eagles final touchdown of the night to make the score 56 to 7.  With a tough loss last week, the players worked hard and came out with focus for the night. Junior defensive tackle Turner Henington talked about their motivation and keys to coming away with a win. “The pace never let down,” continuing on he explained “we ran full speed the entire time and never dropped the tempo.” Despite the harsh conditions outside, the football team came out fighting. Working together and never giving up, they showed their strength and dedication to the game. Hopefully this means the start of another winning streak!

  • Valor Volleyball vs. Evergreen

On a rainy Thursday night, Evergreen journeyed to Valor to duel with an undefeated Valor girl’s varsity team. Although the game started out slow for the Eagles, the girls pulled out a 25-21 win in the first. They played harder in the second and started out with a lead as Junior libero Savannah Cressman served 15 consecutive serves, helping bring them to a 25-13 win. Freshman setter Delaney Thome and Junior Varsity setter, Emily Potter, who was brought up to play with Varsity, played a consistent second set to help the Eagles defeat the Evergreen Cougars. Due to a lack of communication, Valor fell in the third set, allowing Evergreen to take a 25-17 win.

The Eagles regained their confidence and momentum and played aggressive to win in the fourth. Junior Middle, Cassidy Wurth, led the offense and helped Valor defeat the Cougars. Overall, Valor played a steady game and defended their undefeated record. The Freshman team played  with confidence and beat the Cougars in an exciting match adding a win to their record as well. Although Sub-Varsity dropped the first set to the Cougars, they came back to win the next second. They defeated them again in the third in a tight match.

Junior Varsity played exceptional and took out the Evergreen Junior Varsity team in two. The entire Evergreen volleyball program showed hard work as they never gave up. Both teams demonstrated good sportsmanship towards their opponent allowing the matches to run smoothly. All four Valor teams played well and the girls are ready to take on Golden on this coming Tuesday.
