  • Final 5A boys tennis state tournament results

    Draws for the 2015 Class 5A boys tennis state tournament, held Oct. 15-17 at Gates Tennis Center in Denver, are below.

    All matches start at 9 a.m. each day. The first two rounds at each position will be played Thursday. Friday morning will be all semifinals, and the playback matches will start immediately afterwards. All third- and fourth-place matches and finals will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

    Should weather intervene, check CHSAANow.com for contingency plans.

    These results will be updated throughout the tournament.

    Information on the state tournament and draw creation

    Only those teams who qualify four or more positions to state are eligible for the CHSAA state team championship title. The bracket creation process is as follows:

    1. All 16 individuals/teams will be considered for placement on the draw.
    2. The top 4 individuals/teams will be placed.
    3. The committee shall consider the following factors (in no particular order of importance): strength of league, overall record, strength of competition, head-to-head competition and common opponents.
    4. The remaining Regional Winners (#1’s) will be randomly drawn for places on the draw.
    5. The Regional Finishers (#2’s) will then be randomly drawn for matches against a Regional Winner.
    6. All Regional Winners will be paired against a Regional Finishers.
    7. No two teams or individuals from the same Region will play each other during the first round of the state championship.

    A complete schedule for the Class 3A regional softball playoffs. All games are Oct. 17, unless noted.

    Note that the third game will only be played if the higher-seeded team (Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) loses the second game. The winner of game two and game three will then be the state qualifiers.

    If the higher-seeded team wins games number two, game number three will not be play and the two participants in game two will be the state qualifiers.

    Notes

    • Click on a game number to see details, including time and site. ^- Indicates extra innings.
    • The number next to a team is not the seed. It represents the District the team won.
    • The winners/losers of game 11 may be switched to ensure that each team is not playing a team it had played earlier in the tournament.

    Bracket notes:

    • The site director will flip a coin for home team in all games.
    • The loser of Game 11 (L11) and winner of Game 11 (W11) may change places so that previous opponents are not matched. Because Mountain Vista and Rock Canyon have played one another in the state tournament, Chatfield and Mountain Vista have switched places in the pairings for Friday’s games.
    • If three teams remain after Game 13, the winner of Game 11 (W11) draws a bye to Game 15. If W11 loses Game 12, there will be three teams left and W11 earns the bye. W12 then plays W13 to reach finals. This spot is marked by a percentage sign (%) on the bracket.
