Lutheran upsets No. 1 Sterling in 3A boys basketball

In a huge Class 3A boys basketball upset Friday night, No. 4 Lutheran did what no team has been able to do this season – take down No. 1 Sterling.

Smoky Hill Buffaloes’ Kenny Foster had a big game, finishing the big shot late for the 71-70 win against the No. 4 Overland Trailblazers on Wednesday night. 

Highlights: No. 5 Fossil Ridge girls basketball tops No. 7 Horizon

The SaberCats girls basketball team beat Horizon 62-57 in a key Front Range League battle between top-10 teams.

Weld Central’s Noah Sena hit a half-court shot to lift his team to a 63-60 win over Wiggins on Thursday.

Video: Middle Park’s Boston Gleich completes wild TD pass as time expires

Middle Park quarterback Boston Gleich pulled off an amazing touchdown as time expired in his team’s loss to D’Evelyn on Friday night.

Gleich, a senior, took a snap in shotgun with four seconds remaining, stepped up in the pocked to avoid the rush, then scrambled back in it to avoid more defensive pursuit. The then dodged more would-be tacklers as he scrambled to his right and fired a pass from his own 32-yard-line.

Beale Smith, a junior, was there are D’Evelyn’s 38-yard-line to haul in the pass. He sprinted the rest of the way for the score.

Gleich posted video of the play on Twitter early Saturday morning.

Middle Park lost to the Jaguars, 55-14. Middle Park is now 2-4, while D’Evelyn improved to 3-3.

FORT COLLINS — Jake Campbell pitched a shutout to help No. 10 Rocky Mountain baseball beat Poudre on Tuesday. He allowed just five hits in six innings, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out five.

Highlights: Windsor boys lacrosse runs past Jefferson Academy

WINDSOR — Ninth-ranked Windsor boys lacrosse cruised to a 12-2 win over Jefferson Academy on Tuesday. The Wizards are now 5-4 this season.
