— Dalton Keene (@DaltonKeene18) April 18, 2016
A running back and tight end for the Chargers, Keene is reportedly going to play tight end in college, according to the Roanoke Times in Virginia.
Keene had five touchdowns and 668 yards on 115 carries last season — all team highs. He also caught 22 passes for 196 yards and a score.
On defense, Keene had a team-best 116 total tackles, including 5.5 for a loss, and made 2.0 sacks. He also forced two fumbles.
Keene also had offers from Colorado and Colorado State, as well as Nebraska, Missouri, Syracuse and Iowa State, according to his Rivals.com profile.
He becomes the fifth known member of the 2017 class to make a college football commitment.
Highlights from Keene’s junior season are below.
INDIANAPOLIS — At its March 21-23 meeting in Indianapolis, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Swimming and Diving Rules Committee approved a change to the freestyle portion of the individual medley and medley relay as it relates to body position.
An addition to Rule 8-2-4c will read as follows: “The final leg of the individual medley and the medley relay requires the swimmer to be at or past vertical toward the breast before any stroke, kick or propulsive motion.”
This revision was one of several changes recommended by the Swimming and Diving Rules Committee and subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.
The committee also approved a change in the current practice of determining a final time when a touch pad malfunctions in a lane. Searcy said that research has shown that the current practice of calculating the average difference between the primary and backup timing systems, and adjusting the backup time in the malfunctioning lane(s), does not improve the accuracy of the times.
“Using the backup time without adjustment results in a final time that is just as accurate and avoids a mathematical exercise which is both time-consuming and difficult to perform during a meet,” Searcy said.
In addition, the committee defined a deck change as “changing, in whole or in part, into or out of a swimsuit when wearing just one suit in an area other than a permanent or temporary locker room, bathroom, changing room or other space designated for changing purposes.” Beginning with the 2016-17 season, any team personnel/competitor involved in “deck changing” will be assessed a penalty for unsporting conduct, which would disqualify an individual from further participation in a meet.
In diving, the committee approved two rules changes and made three revisions in the official diving chart. In an effort to minimize risk, the committee ruled that a dive is failed if, in the diving referee’s opinion, the diver “performs an additional bounce(s) on the end of the board after the culminating hurdle.”
“The forward approach shall begin with not less than three steps and finish with a hurdle, defined as a jump off one foot to a landing on both feet at the end of the board,” Searcy said. “The diver should not be permitted to perform an additional bounce just prior to the takeoff.”
In Rule 9-5-5, the committee added clarity and consistency to the balk call, requiring a diver to actually commence, then stop the dive.
In the official listing of approved dives, the committee eliminated the Flying Back 1 SS (212) and the Flying Reverse SS (312), and added a new dive – the Forward 2 SS 1 Twist – with degrees of difficulty of 2.6 (tuck) and 2.7 (pike).
Swimming and diving ranks No. 8 in popularity among girls with 166,838 participants and No. 10 among boys with 137,087 participants, according to the 2014-15 NFHS Athletics Participation Survey.
This week’s boys swimming rankings are below.
These team rankings are created from the top marks of the season so far which have been entered in MaxPreps. They are compiled by PrepSwimCo.com.

A snowstorm over the weekend will not affect the “Adviser University” seminar scheduled for Monday.
CHSAA assistant commissioner Harry Waterman said Sunday that the event will go on as scheduled. It begins on Monday at 8:30 a.m., and covers a variety of topics for student leadership advisers.

Three out of the five No. 1 positions in the CHSAANow.com baseball rankings have a different look from a week ago.
Pine Creek takes over as the top team in Class 5A, Silver Creek returns to the top spot in 4A and Granada comes in as the new No. 1 team in 1A.
The Eagles take over as No. 1 in 5A after beating Palmer 10-0 last week, avenging a loss to the Terrors that occurred only days earlier. It is the only loss of the season for Pine Creek.
ThunderRidge is nipping right at the heels of the Eagles as they sit only nine points back in voting. The Grizzlies took down Douglas County last Wednesday in a big Continental League win.
Lakewood (No. 7) and Cherokee Trail (No. 8) are the new additions to the 5A rankings this week.
Silver Creek takes back the top spot in 4A only a week after losing a grasp on the position. The Raptors went 2-0 last week, topping Northridge and Longmont to improve their record to 9-2 overall.
The bottom half of the rankings saw an influx of new teams as Northridge comes in at No. 7, Pueblo South lands at No. 8 and Palmer Ridge rounds out the rankings at No. 10.
The still-undefeated Eaton Reds remain the unanimous No. 1 team in 3A this week.
St. Mary’s is the only new team to that poll coming off a double-header sweep of La Junta on Friday. The Pirates come in at No. 8 this week.
Paonia edged out Sedgwick County by three points to remain the No. 1 team in 2A this week. Akron and Dayspring Christian are the new additions in 2A, coming in at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively.
A 10-6 win over then No. 1 Holly on Friday was good enough to boost Granada to the top spot in the 1A poll.
Manzanola was able to break into the rankings at No. 6 while Stratton/Liberty is the other new addition, coming in at No. 10.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, they are released each Monday.

The play of the Regis Jesuit Raiders has certainly been of top-10 quality and, as a result, they join the Class 5A CHSAANow.com girls soccer rankings at No. 8 this week.
They join a tough field in which Grandview has a unanimous hold on the No. 1 spot in the poll. Rocky Mountain made an impressive jump from No. 8 to No. 4 thanks to wins over Mountain Range and Greeley West.
Regis Jesuit was the only new team to join the 5A rankings.
In 4A, avenging a state championship game loss from last May was good enough to keep Lewis-Palmer in the top spot.
Cheyenne Mountain dropped to No. 5 as a result of the loss.
A 2-0 win over Heritage was good enough for voters to make Ponderosa the only new team to join the 4A poll, where the Mustangs land at No. 10.
Kent Denver took six of 10 first-place votes to remain the top team in the 3A rankings. They are still followed closely by Colorado Academy. In fact, the Mustangs came within a point of taking the top spot from the Sun Devils.
SkyView Academy and Lutheran join the 3A rankings this week at No. 8 and No. 9 respectively.
Vail Mountain is still the top team in 2A, taking six of seven first-place votes. The five teams from last week’s poll remain the same, with the only difference being Cornerstone Christian and Denver Christian trading spots at No. 4 and No. 5.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, they are released each Monday.

Colorado Academy and Chaparral are starting to get noticed at the right time.
The Mustangs and the Wolverines each won two crucial games last week and those wins were good enough to get them into the Class 5A CHSAANow.com boys lacrosse rankings.
Colorado Academy breaks in at No. 9 and Chaparral lands at No. 10.
An overtime win over Regis Jesuit ensured that Cherry Creek would remain the top team in the rankings. The Raiders stayed put at No. 3, with the loss not affecting their position.
In fact, the top five teams last week all held on to their spots this week.
The Dawson School is still the No. 1 team in 4A, taking eight of nine first-place votes.
Thanks to a comeback win over Golden, Windsor held on to their spot at No. 2.
Air Academy and Valor Christian each jumped two spots from a week ago with the Kadets coming in at No. 7 and the Eagles landing at No. 8.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, they are released each Monday.

COLORADO SPRINGS — The strength of the Manitou Springs girls soccer team has been the play of its freshmen and sophomores. But coming into their rivalry game against St. Mary’s on Friday night, they behaved more like seasoned veterans.
The Mustang defenders completely shut down forward Scooter Ross as they battled to a 3-2 win over the Pirates.
“It was a big day for our girls,” Manitou coach Ben Mack said. “They grew up a little bit today.”
Even with the win, the Mustangs (5-4 overall) did not control the game the whole way. They had to battle from behind as Makenna Bodette buried a shot from over 20 yards out to give the CHSAANow.com No. 8-ranked Pirates (5-3) a quick 1-0 lead.
But the bulk of the Mustangs’ success this season has come from a talented freshman class, and that’s right where they went when the needed an equalizer. A beautifully played ball into the St. Mary’s zone was picked up by freshman Olivia McKenna and she was able to get the ball by Pirates keeper Madelynn Ellis to tie the game.
“We were determined,” McKenna said. “We knew that was what we had to do.”
The Pirates kept trying to press the attack and often found themselves in a position to get good shots off, but each one seemed to sail wide of the net. In a tie game against a rival, that will more often than not spell doom for a team.
“It came down to two things,” St. Mary’s coach Gregg Braha said. “The team that made more mistakes was going to lose, that was us. The other thing is that at halftime, I think there were three shots on goal and there were three goals. It became an issue of who was going to get more shots would win the game.”
But it wasn’t necessarily an issue of shot quantity as it was shot quality.
McKenna soon found herself with the ball, attacking the St. Mary’s zone in the 32nd minute. She played it into the middle where Georgia Findlay was able to put the ball into the net giving the Mustangs a 2-1 lead.
And Mack’s team knew the game was far from over. Even with a one-goal lead, there was still the wildcard of Ross, who Mack openly claimed was the top forward in Class 3A.
Ross was able to find herself on a breakaway and was even able to draw Mustangs keeper Monique Heiniger entirely out of the net. But on her shot, it once again sailed wide of the net.
“She’s incredibly dangerous,” Mack said. “We had to be really careful because one or two false steps and she’s behind (the defense) like you saw on that.”
Those missed opportunities would come back to haunt the Pirates.
Manitou soon took the lead as a scramble in front of the net ended with sophomore Brooklyn Mack scoring for the Mustangs, giving them a 3-1 cushion.
“That opportunity won us the game,” Brooklyn said. “Those (50/50) balls right in front of the net are the most important balls of the game. They’re the ones that are laid out in front of you and have to get those in the net.”
And for every open look the Pirates were getting in the game, it seemed to be the contested shots that paid the most dividends. Haley Plush cut the Mustangs’ lead to one as she launched a shot over the Manitou defenders and the outstretched fingers of Heiniger.
But that’s as close as St. Mary’s would get. The Mustangs controlled the ball late and prevented St. Mary’s from getting any organized offense together.
The Pirates got knocked down, but they’re far from out. Braha will let his team mentally regroup over the weekend before getting back to work Monday.
“It’s a growing process,” Braha said. “We’ll learn from it.”
