Evergreen girls basketball coach Amy Bahl steps down

(Dennis Pleuss/Jeffco Athletics)

Amy Bahl has stepped down as the girls basketball coach at Evergreen.

Bahl and her husband, Michael, are expecting their third child in November.

“I just want to be with family and focus on that because I haven’t really ever taken any time off since having kids,” Bahl said on Monday.

Bahl led the Cougars to their second-straight Class 4A title last spring, and had been the coach for the past six seasons. Her teams were 122-37.

Evergreen was 13-12 in Bahl’s first season. In each of the past three seasons, the Cougars have won 24 games, including a 25-3 mark in 2016-17 for the program’s first championship, and 26-2 last season as they defended their title.

“It’s been great, especially the last three years,” Bahl said. “We’ve definitely built something, and it’s tough to step away from it, but I feel good about it, too.”

Bahl is a graduate of Rocky Mountain.

Bahl’s resignation was also reported by Evergreen Newspapers.
