  • No. 2 Rye baseball takes down No. 1 Peyton in Class 2A showdown

    May means the high school baseball postseason, but the last day of April certainly provided a playoff-type atmosphere for Rye High School.

  • No. 3 Jefferson Academy girls soccer shuts out No. 5 SkyView Academy

    Four different players scored goals as Jefferson Academy girls soccer scored a top-5 win over SkyView Academy in Class 3A.

    The Jaguars, ranked No. 3, scored two goals in each half en route to a 4-0 win over the fifth-ranked Hawks on Tuesday.

    Sydney Spitz, Kristen Capan, Denae Lamb and Bridget Lynch all scored for Jefferson Academy, which is now 11-1-1 this season and has two games remaining this season.

    Sarah Spitz had two assists in the game, and Lamb also added an assist. Brooklynn Kirkpatrick made four saves in goal to notch her ninth shutout of the season.

    With the win, Jefferson Academy rebounded from its lone loss of the season — a 1-0 defeat to Kent Denver last Saturday.

    SkyView Academy is now 6-5-2 this season.

  • Jeffco’s National Letter of Intent signers grows to more than 200

    JEFFERSON COUNTY — The latest National Letter of Intent signing period has pushed the number of Jeffco student-athletes continuing at the next level to well over 200.

    Several Jeffco high schools across the district has had signing celebrations since the final signing date period of the coming 2019-2020 academic school year began on April 17. The final signing date for Division I basketball programs wraps up May 15 and the last signing day for Division II football programs is August 1.
