DENVER — Ian Enkema scored the winning goal in overtime to help send Telluride boys soccer to its first-ever championship game appearance.

The sixth-seeded Miners trailed 2-0 in the first half, but stormed back for the 3-2 win over No. 2 Fountain Valley in the Class 2A semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Enkema’s goal came three-and-a-half minutes into the first overtime. He beat the Fountain Valley goalkeeper to a ball in the left side of the box, and flicked it over his head and into the net for a winner.

Fountain Valley had grabbed a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Aly Kassam, including a penalty kick with 5:15 to play before halftime.

Telluride got an important answer less than three minutes later, when Andreas Moorman scored on a PK of his own. That made it 2-1 at the break, and things stayed that way as the second half wore on.

The Miners then tied the game at 2 on Brian Sosa’s goal off a corner kick with 11:03 to play. Sosa tucked home a loose ball after a diving save.

Then, in overtime, Enkema scored the winner to send Telluride to the title game, which is set for next Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

Crested Butte rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to advance to their first-ever championship game appearance.

The Titans tied the game at 1 less than five minutes into the second half when Gabi Marmolejo scored following a lot of pressure around the Denver Christian net.

The two teams continued to trade chances as the end of regulation drew near — including Denver Christian hitting the post — but it was Josias Navarrete, off an assist from Carlos Franco, who played the hero in the final minutes.

Navarrete tucked home a goal with 2:50 to play to put Crested Butte ahead 2-1, and the Titans held on.

Ryan Beattie scored for Denver Christian in the first half.
