Broomfield’s Jim Davidson to receive National Coach of the Year Award

It sure has been a good year for head coach Jim Davidson and Broomfield soccer.

Less than six months after his Eagles won the Class 5A girls soccer state championship, Davidson will receive the 2021 National Coach of the Year award for large public school girls soccer teams from the United Soccer Coaches organization on Friday evening in Kansas City, Mo.

“It’s pretty humbling,” Davidson said. “It’s been a pretty exciting weekend and I’m getting to share it with my father. He came in from Chicago this weekend. It came as a real surprise when I was notified that I was receiving the award. It’s just really cool to be here at the largest gathering of soccer coaches in the world. It’s really validating for our program and the girls to be recognized with an award like this one.

“I also have to note that I have an absolutely amazing staff and I’ve been blessed to have coached so many incredible players over the years. My assistant coaches and my players are absolutely amazing and this doesn’t happen without them.”

Davidson, who was voted CHSAA 5A coach of the year following last season, also won the United Soccer Coaches National Coach of the Year Award for boys soccer in 2015.
