This week marks the beginning of the CHSAA Music Festival Season.
From this week through the end of April, high school music groups will gather at multiple locations across the state to showcase their musical talents. Adjudicators will lead clinics and site reading sessions to help students continue to develop their skills. The festivals are for vocal groups, instrumental (band and orchestra), and jazz and a cappella groups.
The Doherty festival is a five-day festival, specifically for vocal groups. The director of this festival is Doherty’s Todd DiCamillo, a mainstay in the high school music community who is devoted to helping his students grow as singers and as young people. As the festival host, Todd had his hands full with welcoming groups, prepping adjudicators, and managing his duties as a member of the Doherty faculty. With his many responsibilities, Todd will stop on a dime to help students with all issues, big and small. He has a pep in his step that says he has a full agenda, but a temperament that allows him to spend quality moments with students. When Todd is not directing his own students or hosting a festival, he lends his time to CHSAA as an adjudicator himself.
CHSAA Music Festivals do not happen without the help of many people. Thank you to all our judges, instructors, and student volunteers.
