Students from across the state are gathering at Cherokee Trail today to compete in the CHSAA state speech and debate tournament.
This event is another opportunity to provide Colorado high school students with a positive and competitive speech experience. This two-day event recognizes speech and debate competitors in 12 categories. The event welcomes competitors from 72 schools from all over Colorado to this weekend’s event.
“We are thrilled to showcase the incredible work that our students have been working towards all year,” said Ashley McCulloch, state tournament director and Eaglecrest speech and debate coach. “This year is even more sweet because it has been two years since we’ve had this meet in person.”
When asked about her personal involvement, Ashley added, “Serving as tournament director is the greatest act of service, I could give this community. There are so many dedicated adults who make this happen because they care about what these kids can accomplish. So many community members who come in and help. We couldn’t do it without them.”
