LAKEWOOD — It took a mere 13 seconds for Green Mountain to grab the lead against Bear Creek on Friday night at Lakewood Memorial Field.
Sophomore Rose Olson centered a pass that freshman Alyssa Hamilton put into the back of the net with 39 minutes, 47 seconds left in the first half. The Rams (5-2, 3-1 in Class 4A Jeffco League) cruised to a 8-0 victory in girls soccer action.

“I was a little surprised,” Hamilton said of the quickest goal of her soccer career. “The ball got crossed and came right to my foot. I instantly looked at the clock.”
It was the first of two first-half goals for Hamilton that gave Green Mountain a 4-0 halftime lead.
“We got the ball wide and Rose (Olson) made a nice cross and we finished it,” Green Mountain coach Ken Fehr said. “It was picture perfect — 13 seconds in or 30 minutes — when you get it and do the right thing you are going to get a goal.”
Olson eventually scored a pair of goals herself as Green Mountain had a nice three-day stretch of back-to-back shutout victories against Golden and Bear Creek.
“We put the work in Wednesday night against Golden,” Fehr said of the 2-0 victory at the North Area Athletic Complex. “We got some chances and got the win. This is a good way to end the week.”
Green Mountain and the rest of the 4A Jeffco teams are chasing after defending conference champion Evergreen (7-1, 4-0). The Rams lost to the Cougars a week ago 4-1, but Green Mountain is back on track and eyeing a postseason berth no matter what happen when it comes to the league title.
“Our focus right now it to get in a situation to have a shot when the regular season is over,” Fehr said of the Rams’ intentions to get into the 32-team 4A state tournament bracket. “We don’t talk about winning league. We have a few games ahead of us that we need to win. If we play like we can play and stay healthy we’ll be fine.”
The top two teams in 4A Jeffco earn an automatic bid to the playoffs. Half of the field will be determined by the RPI standings. Green Mountain currently sits No. 9 in the RPI rankings.
“We’ve got to keep this momentum,” Hamilton said. “We’ve got some big games coming up. To win league you’ve got to win those games. You have to come out hard.”
Green Mountain has three games next week, which includes league games against D’Evelyn (Tuesday, April 19) and Littleton (Friday, April 22).
