ARVADA — Denver North rallied from from a 2-0 deficit against Pomona in the season opener Thursday night at the North Area Athletic Complex.
Pomona jumped out to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals in the span of 30 seconds in the 35th minute of the first half. Seniors Grant Drewes and Alex Russel scored to give the Panthers the 2-goal lead late in the first half. However, it was all Vikings from there on out.

Denver North — No. 3 in the Class 4A boys soccer CHSAANow.com preseason rankings — scored seven unanswered goals in the final 42 minutes to take a 7-2 victory. Seniors Elijah Reyes and Salvador Rodriguez led the way with multiple goals for Denver North. Jonathan Devora and Miguel Arzola also found the back of the net for the Vikings (1-0 record).
Denver North was a 4A state semifinals last season.
