Ball Fever: Action heating up into week seven

Welcome back, hoops fans! A little time off for our annual Martin Luther King Jr. “Day of Service” Event for Volunteers of America “Family Shelter” last week but the Fever Crew is anxious to get back at it and dig in to our top squads! There were no changes in the #1 spots of this week’s Coaches Poll so if history tells us anything, get ready for some possible shake up this week. Let’s take a look at week 7:

Tuesday, Jan. 24

This week’s 5:30pm action starts off with one of two unbeaten teams in 5A #3 Frederick who is sitting at a strong 14-0 behind Luke Justice’s 22 points per game and they are maintaining a mind-blowing 80 point per game pace as a team facing off with 8-5 Mountain View in league play.

Fossil Ridge held steady at the #1 spot in 6A for two weeks now and they make the trek on this night to Prairie View for a league battle.

Not to be outdone up north Fort Collins has reeled off 5 wins in a row and maintained the 6A #10 spot again this week. They look to remain unbeaten in league play as they travel to Monarch and Luke Wagstaff looks to continue the “monsta” double-double average of 21 points 10 rebounds per outing.

After another exciting week for Rock Canyon who always seem to have games that come down to the wire the Jags move up to the #2 6A spot in the Coaches Poll and are an impressive 15-1 overall.  The Jungle will play host to league for Legend for what will likely be another hard fought bout.

“Stat-stuffin” Eli Robinson is leading the 5A #8 Lewis Palmer in EVERY statistical category: 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks per game! The Rangers face a solid Lutheran team who is 10-4 with Brayden Jacobs scoring 21 points per outing himself.

Riding a four game win streak Longmont, at 10-4, has joined the 5A Top 10 at #9. They start this week at Silver Creek in an important league battle.

#6 in 5A Vista Peak holding steady and riding high after taking down neighborhood “A-Town” for Rangeview in walk off fashion last week look to take down North Vikings who are also playing very well with the same record of 11-3 going into this one!

One of our state’s best is “stat-stuffin” again and junior Andrew Crawford leads #9  ThunderRidge in EVERY statistical category:  20 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks per game! T-Ridge looks to stay right in the Continental league mix vs. Heritage.

6A Top 10 Alert!!! Need more Continental high level action?  After a heartbreaking loss to Rock Canyon at home #7 Regis takes it’s steady show on the road to to #4, 12-2 Mountain Vista.

5A Top 10 Alert!!!  In the first of their always tough league battles #7 Windsor will tangle with #4 Mead. Tucker Mills 20 points per game for the Mavs will see David Hageman’s 19 points per outing for Windsor.

Steady at #5 in 6A Denver East is sporting a 12 game win streak that includes an impressive road win at Mountain Vista last week where leader Deaundre Samuels dropped a cool “30-piece”. The Angels have a non league showdown with Westminster Tuesday.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

6A #3 Smoky Hill has ran off 5 wins straight and remains unbeaten in the state of Colorado and now it’s time for the #CentennialTough run for them and that starts vs. Arapahoe.

Garnering an 8 game win streak of their own 5A #5 Dakota Ridge is 11-2 midway through the season and they look to remain unbeaten in league play vs. Littleton.

Thursday, Jan. 26

Greeley Central only has 3 wins on the season and number four will be hard to come by as #4 Mead visits for the first of their 2 league games.

Holy Family is the #1 team in 4A and this will be a fun clash as they take on 5A #7 at home. League and bragging rights on the line in this one!

Air Academy, 14-2, and now 5A #2 squad take their 10 game winning streak up against a solid Lutheran squad that’s averaging 62 points per game.

Longmont looks to show they deserve their new #9 ranking and must hold off league foe Centaurus in order to do just that.

6A Top 10 Alert!!!  Both squads are 12-2 and this will be a big one in Continental League standings when #6 Highlands Ranch gets it on with #4 Mountain Vista! The upstart Falcons have been riding the hot hand of senior guard Aiden Krusoe and his 15 points per game.

5A #3 Frederick will lace the track shoes up again as they look to run away from Fort Morgan.

A little inner city action on the docket with #5 Denver East taking on long time foe Thomas Jefferson. Always exciting!

Friday, Jan. 27

The #1 squad in the state gets things going on Friday night and double-double machine Nick Randall looks to keep the 20 point, 10 rebound streak rolling vs. Fairview.

Loveland is 3-9 on the season and win four will be tough to come by as they host #10 Fort Collins up north as well.

5A #5 Dakota Ridge looks to keep the run going as they travel to Wheat Ridge.

6A Top 10 Alert!!! Gets no bigger than this in Highlands Ranch! We have a game of the week candidate with Continental foes #9 ThunderRidge and #2 Rock Canyon ready to battle. Get there early and be prepared to stay late, this one will come down to final minutes!

Saturday, Jan. 29

Looking for some action at high noon Hinkley will make a rare non league visit to #5 Denver East.

#10 Fort Collins ends a busy 3-game week at Northglenn who only holds one win on the season.

After Denver North took their shot at #6 Vista Peak it’s Denver West’s turn to try and take down the Bison on the weekend.

Another busy squad, #7 Windsor, plays their third game of the week in league play vs. Greeley Central.

Tough Tarea Fulcher’s 17 points is pacing #7 Regis and they get a Saturday visit from 8-5 Rocky Mountain this Saturday.

#3 Smoky Hill hits the road and travels to Mullen on Saturday where both will be looking to stay unbeaten in early Centennial play.

5A Top 10 Alert!!! The night cap for the weekend and closeout of week 7 is a treat with two squads who know each other well in tough #4 Mead and #9 Longmont closing out the action!

Ok, folks! We are in Week 7 and mid-way through the season. Will we get #1 shake up this week? Or will the top squads again hold their sport in our coaches poll? Can’t wait to find out…get out and enjoy! #BallFever
