Girls golf championships set for Tuesday and Wednesday

AURORA – The 2023 Colorado State High School Activities Association will host the girls golf state championships on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 30-31. The 3A state tournament will be contested at the Aspen Golf Club in Aspen, the 4A state championship at Thorncreek Golf Course in Thornton and the 5A at Black Bear Golf Club in Parker.
 

How many participants will there be?

There will be a total of 84 golfers per classification at each site. View the pairings for the 3A championship in Aspen, the 4A championship in Thornton and the 5A championship in Parker.

How does a golfer advance to the state championship?

Golfers qualify for state through the regional. The top two teams and next 13 individuals from each of the regionals advance to the state championship.
 

How many rounds will be played each day?

The state championship consists of two 18-hole rounds. The individual and team leader at the end of the second round will be deemed the state champions. In the case of a tie for first place, a playoff will take place to determine the champion.
 

How does a golfer make the all-state team?

The all-state teams are created based upon results from the state championships. The top-20 finishers, including ties, will be named to the all-state team, with the top-10 earning first-team honors and 11-20 being named to the second team.
 

How much does it cost to attend the state championships?

Entry is free to each of the three sites. Please note that there is a spectator policy in place at some sites.
