Gator Invite helps kick cross country season into action

WESTMINSTER — More the 500 runners from 27 different high schools from across Colorado descended on Community College Open Space Park on Saturday morning for one of the largest early-season cross country meets of the season.

Standley Lake hosted the invite that featured six total races. Division 1, 2 and newcomers races for both boys and girls. 

Golden junior Cameron Shull had the best time of the day running the Division 1 boys race in a time of 16 minutes, 15.3 seconds to grab the individual title. Ralston Valley senior Owen Eicher was the runner-up in the Division 1 boys race with a time of 16:49.1. Lutheran captured the team title.

On the girls side of the Division 1 race, Arvada West sophomore Kendall Douville won the individual title with a time of 19:34. Golden sophomore Sophia Halverson placed second in a time of 19:36 and Ralston Valley junior Eliana DiManna took third with a time of 19:41.6. Ralston Valley grabbed the team title with its top five runners all finishing in the top-12.

Horizon swept the Division 2 races. Horizon senior Ethan Adams’s time of 16:26.8 won the boys race and Horizon senior Alanna Snyder’s time of 22:02.9 grabbed the win on the girls side.
