AURORA – The second round of the CHSAA’s 2023 4A Boys Soccer State Championship Tournament was completed Wednesday night with the top four seeds advancing. All eight winners will advance to the quarterfinals, with matches being played at the home site of the higher-seeded team on Nov. 4. Start times for all games can be found on the bracket.
No. 1 seed Northfield continued to move through the bracket as it knocked of No. 16 Mead, 4-1, tonight. Northfield will face No. 9 Air Academy in the second round, as the Kadets won a thriller in Durango, knocking off No. 8 Durango, 7-6, in penalty kicks. The two teams were knotted at 1-1 following two overtimes.
The No. 2 seed also advanced, as Centaurus defeated No. 15 Lutheran, 2-1. The Warriors will face No. 7 Steamboat Springs in the quarterfinals, as it knocked off No. 10 Glenwood Springs, 3-1.
Battle Mountain, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, used a 3-0 shutout win over No. 19 Golden to advance to the quarterfinals, where they’ll face No. 11 Niwot. The Cougars knocked off No. 6 Skyline, 4-2, to move on.
No. 4 Cheyenne Mountain cruised to the quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over No. 13 Windsor, while No. 12 Regis Groff upset No. 5 Silver Creek, 4-1, to advance. Cheyenne Mountain and Regis Gross will face in the quarterfinals.
The winners of each of the four quarterfinal matches will advance to the 4A semifinal round, which will be played on Nov. 8, at JeffCo Trailblazer Stadium. The state championship finals will then be played on Nov. 11, at Switchbacks Weidner Field in Colorado Springs. Championship tickets can be found on SeatGeek.
