AURORA – Week 1 of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 6-Man Football Playoffs for the 2023 State Championships are underway. Live scores can be found on MaxPreps and select games will be streamed on the NFHS Network.

Saturday Results
No. 6 seed Cheyenne Wells got Saturday’s action started by comfortably defeating No. 11 seed La Veta 64-18. In the next round, Cheyenne Wells will face No. 3 seed Granada, after Granada orchestrated a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback to defeat No. 14 seed Genoa Hugo 39-38.
No. 2 seed Otis cruised to a sweat-free victory, defeating No. 15 seed Primero 56-14. Their quarterfinals opponent will be No. 7 seed Branson/Kim after they beat No. 10 seed Peetz 39-29.
On the other half of the bracket, No. 5 seed Walsh defended home turf against No. 12 seed Briggsdale, winning 29-14 to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. Opposite of Walsh in the quarterfinals will be the winner of the matchup between No. 4 seed Idalia, who defeated No. 5 seed Eads on Friday.
The last game in the early slot saw No. 9 seed Arickaree travel to No. 8 seed Sierra Grande, where Sierra Grande lit up the scoreboard to earn a 66-20 victory and advance to the quarterfinals. Their quarterfinals opponent will be No. 1 seed Stratton, who took care of business against No. 16 seed Hanover, winning 56-16.
Friday Results
The first week of the CHSAA’s 6-man Football Playoffs got started Friday afternoon at Idalia High School, as the No. 4 seed Idalia Wolves hosted the No. 13 seed Eads Eagles. One week after beating the Eagles 54-24 in the final regular season game, the Wolves dialed up the heat even further to defeat Eads 55-0 and advance to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, they will face the winner of Saturday afternoon’s game between Walsh and Briggsdale.
