AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association hosted its second-ever dual-style team tennis state championship Tuesday at the Denver Tennis Park. This year, the tournament was played to clinch, so as soon as one team won at four positions, the match was called.
In 5A, top-seeded Ralston Valley defeated longtime state champion and No. 2 seed Cherry Creek, 4-2, for its first-ever state title, while No. 1 Kent Denver used a third-set victory at No. 1 doubles to secure a 4-3 win over No. 2 Cheyenne Mountain. Colorado Academy capped off the day with a thrilling match, as the Mustangs’ win at No. 4 doubles secured the school its first-ever state title in girls tennis.
