Boys Lacrosse: State Championship Match-Ups Set for Monday

Please note: the 4A game was in a weather delay from 6:08 – 6:50 pm. Due to the delay, the 5A game will be pushed back and start at approximately 8:20 p.m.

AURORA – The match-ups are set for the Colorado High School Activities Association’s Boys Lacrosse State Championship Games at Peter Barton Stadium in Denver. 

Both championship games will be played on Monday, May 20. The 4A championship between No. 1 Erie and No. 7 Northfield will begin the championship doubleheader at 5 p.m. with the 5A championship between No. 1 Arapahoe and No. 3 Valor Christian beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Both championship games will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.


5A

No. 1 Arapahoe earned their spot in the state title bout by defeating No. 9 Denver South, 13-7, and No. 5 Legend, 9-8. Arapahoe will be seeking its second boys lacrosse state championship in the past three years and their fifth all-time.

No. 3 Valor Christian advanced past No. 11 Castle View, 15-1, in the quarterfinals and No. 7 Regis Jesuit, 13-3, in the semifinals to reach the state championship finals. Valor Christian is hoping to bring home its first boys lacrosse state title since 2017 and third overall. If they win, the championship would also be the Eagles’ first in Class 5A.
 


4A

No. 1 Erie defeated No. 8 Dakota Ridge, 16-11, and beat No. 4 Battle Mountain, 17-2, to advance to the state title game. The Tigers are chasing the first boys lacrosse state championship in school history, after appearing in the program’s first state championship a season ago.

No. 7 Northfield upset No. 2 Cheyenne Mountain, 10-8, in the quarterfinals before defeating No. 6 Air Academy, 9-5, to punch its ticket to the state championship game. The Nighthawks will be pursuing their first-ever boys lacrosse state championship and their first-ever boys lacrosse state championship game appearance.
