AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association will host its 2024 National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Sponsor Conference this Friday, Sept. 13 at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts in Colorado Springs, and the schedule has been released.
The day will start with breakfast at 8 a.m., before an introduction to Honor Society Advising will kick things off at 9 a.m. A discussion around Honor Society Selection Procedures will take place at 10 a.m., and then representatives from Boettcher will be on site to talk about the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship and to answer questions that students and/or advisers may have.
Following the lunch break will be a networking and idea sharing session before concluding the session with a conversation around discipline and dismissal procedures.
The conference is open to all NHS and NJHS sponsors and building leaders at the middle school and high school levels. It’s designed to help advisors be in the know about national scholarship opportunities, and the work that the NHS and NJHS are doing. It’s also an opportunity to network with other advisors, learn about the bylaws, discipline and dismissal procedures and hear about opportunities that the Colorado Department of Education offers to students who are looking to get into teaching.
“It’s important to note that most of the students in Colorado who take part in CHSAA-sponsored activities also participate in the National Honor Society,” said Rashaan Davis, the CHSAA Assistant Commissioner overseeing activities. “Sponsoring the NHS and NJHS conference is a great way for us to continue to provide opportunities for students to have access, opportunity and voice as they work to build a great culture and climate at their schools.”
The last day to register for the conference is this Thursday.
