3A Boys Golf Region 4: Aspen Wins Team Title, Basalt Runner-Up

SNOWMASS – Aspen won the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 3A boys golf region 4 regional, shooting 13-over 229, while Basalt finished as runner-up, shooting 17-over 233.

Aspen placed two golfers in the top-10, while Basalt placed three. Aspen’s Houston Benvenuto (3-under 69) won the individual title, and teammate Ryan Rigney (5-over 77) tied Basalt’s Hudson Arnold for third place. Basalt also had Jackson Stewart (4-over 76), who placed second, and Parker Strelecki, (8-over 80) who tied for tenth, finish in the top-10.

Tying Strelecki in tenth place were Rifle’s Josh Shanks, Colorado Academy’s Isaac Heyman, and Coal Ridge’s Zach Poland.

Much like Basalt, Mullen placed three golfers in the top 10. Cooper Oatman finished tied for fifth with teammate John Matthew Sedbrook (6-over 78), while John McMullan (7-over 79) finished tied for eighth with Colorado Academy’s Trevor Youssi.

Eagle Valley’s Hudson Rozga also tied for fifth place, alongside the two Mullen golfers.

CHSAA’s 2024 3A Boys Golf State Championship will be played at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7 and 8.
