COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado High School Activities Association’s 4A boys golf region 1 regional featured a stellar showing from Cheyenne Mountain, as the Redtail Hawks shot 12-over 225 to win the team championship, and had four golfers finish in fifth place or better.
Cheyenne Mountain sophomore Brayden Destefano (3-over 74) won the individual championship, while senior Charlie Doyle (4-over 75) finished in a three-way tie for second place, and Ethan Ivany and Fenn Mullins tied each other in fifth place (5-over 76).
Air Academy finished runner-up (23-over 236), with three golfers placing among the top-10 individuals. Seniors Sam Brennan and Cody Shatzer (4-over 75) were the other two members of the three-way tie for second place, while sophomore Ryan Dooms (15-over 86) finished in a tie for seventh place with Rampart senior Will Bartlett and Falcon senior Connor Kinder.
Closing out the top-10 individual golfers was a third three-way tie, this one for tenth place (16-over 87), between Dawson Stovall, from Falcon, and Owen Henry and Ben Hamaan, from Lewis-Palmer.
CHSAA’s 2024 4A Boys Golf State Championship will be played at Tiara Rado Golf Course in Redlands, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7 and 8.
