AURORA – The higher seeded prevailed in all eight of the first round games of the 6-Man Football State Championship bracket with No. 1 Cheyenne Wells, No. 5 Granada and No. 6 Sierra Grande advancing in its games Monday night.
No. 2 Stratton, No. 3 Otis, No. 4 Idalia, No. 7 Caliche and No. 8 Arickaree advanced through the first round over the weekend.
No. 1 Cheyenne Wells used a 76-23 win over No. 16 Primero to advance to the quarterfinals where it will face No. 8 Arickaree, which knocked off No. 9 Fleming, 81-66, on Sunday.
No. 2 Stratton defeated No. 15 Kit Carson, 71-34, and No. 7 Caliche knocked off No. 10 Hanover, 65-50, setting up a second-round matchup between Stratton and Caliche.
No. 3 Otis cruised past No. 14 Cheraw, 62-6, and next play No. 6 Sierra Grande, which knocked off No. 11 Eads, 50-42.
No. 4 Idalia got past No. 13 Prairie, 67-18, and will next face No. 5 Granada as it got past No. 12 Branson/Kim, 44-15.
