Due to winter weather in the Denver metro area and school’s opening on a delayed start, the Colorado High School Activities Association has pushed back the start time of the 2024 Fall Esports State Championships on Tuesday at Localhost in Lakewood.
The championship day will now start with the Rocket League quarterfinals at 10 a.m. From there, as games finish, the next round will get started, so all times are approximate. The Rocket League semifinals will begin at approximately 11 a.m., with the finals set for noon. With the rolling start, League of Legends play will begin with the semifinals as soon as there are enough monitors available, at approximately 11:30 a.m., putting the championship at about 2 p.m. Splatoon will cap off the day with the quarterfinals beginning around 3 p.m., the semifinals set for 4 p.m. and the finals at approximately 5 p.m.
A trophy presentation will take place immediately after the finals of each individual games.
AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association’s 2024 Fall Esports State Championship brackets have been completed, and the final rounds will be played in person on Tuesday at Localhost in Lakewood.

Rocket League Update
There were two upsets in the first round, with No. 11 Chatfield Rocket League (Chatfield) getting past No. 6 MVHS Octane Eagles (Mountain Vista), 4-0, and No. 15 Creek Rocket League (Cherry Creek) knocking off the No. 2 seeded Cherokee Trail Varsity (Cherokee Trail), 4-3.
Top-seeded Bear Creek Gold Rocket League defeated No. 16 The Fine Lads (Highland) 4-0 while No. 3 EA ESports Rocket League (Denver East) swept No. 14 Rocket Wolves – Black (Grandview), 4-0. No. 4 Valor RL Alpha Team (Valor Christian) topped Faking Falcons (Highlands Ranch) 4-0, and and No. 5 RMHS Lobos Varsity (Rocky Mountain) knocked off No. 12 Gladiator RL (GOAL), 4-0. No. 7 Columbia Gladiators (Widefield) advanced after defeating No. 10 Chatfield Rocket League JV (Chatfield), 4-1, and No. 8 RAMS Rocket League (Green Mountain) used a 4-1 win over No. 9 CHS RL Varsity (Centaurus) to move on to the in-person final.

The top four League of Legends seeds all advanced from the quarterfinals, with No. 1 Cherokee Trail Varsity defeating No. 8 Overland Blazers LoL 2-0, No. 2 Fairview Knights beating No. 7 Wolfpack Legends (Grandview) 2-1, No. 3 Ponderosa PricklyPentaPorcupinePeople powering past No. 6 CHS LoL Varsity (Centaurus) 2-0 and No. 4 Creek League of Legends (Cherry Creek) edging VPP STAMPEDE (Vista Peak) 2-1.
In the League of Legends semifinals, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 10, Cherokee Trail faces Cherry Creek, and Fairview plays Ponderosa.

The lone upset of the first round came between The Squidbusters (John F. Kennedy), which were seeded ninth, and PHS Inkpalas (Poudre), which were seeded eighth. The Squidbusters advanced with a 3-0 win.

No. 3 Creek Cephalopod Army (Cherry Creek) knocked of Hoehne Farmers (Hoehne), 3-0, and No. 4 Chatfield Splatoon Varsity (Chatfield) got past No. 13 Valor Eagles (Valor Christian), 3-0.
