4A Boys Lacrosse: State Tournament Updates (May 9)

AURORA — The second round of the 4A boys lacrosse state tournament took place Friday, determining the quarterfinals matchups.

The top seven seeds, as well as the No. 9 seed, have reached the final eight.

The closest game of the night saw No. 4 Air Academy avenge its only loss of the season while defeating rival and No. 13 seed Cheyenne Mountain, 10-9. In another close game, No. 6 Golden edged No. 11 Battle Mountain, 10-6.

Teams are charting a course towards the May 19 championship game, to be played at 5 p.m. at the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Stadium.

The semifinals, also at Peter Barton Stadium, are scheduled for May 17 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
