GREELEY — The opening games of CHSAA’s 3A State Baseball Tournament took place Friday.
No. 1 University and No. 2 Coal Ridge each won twice to advance to a semifinal meeting on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Butch Butler Field. (Saturday’s starting times have been moved up 30 minutes due to expected incoming weather.)
On Friday, playing at Butch Butler Field, University defeated No. 8 Valley 5-4 and No. 4 Resurrection Christian 5-2.
Coal Ridge, playing at University, beat No. 7 Delta 11-5 and No. 3 Eaton 8-0.
Four teams will be eliminated Saturday, and the remaining four teams will advance to play again next weekend, with games May 30 and May 31.
