Team Capsules

5A Final Four Teams

  • No. 1 Grandview is seeking its first-ever baseball state championship while attempting to win the first title by a Grandview boys team since the 2022 track & field crown. The Wolves beat No. 8 Castle View 5-2 and No. 5 Broomfield 5-4 on Friday before falling to No. 2 Cherry Creek 7-1 on Saturday.
  • No. 2 Cherry Creek is seeking to repeat as state champion, which would give the Bruins 10 baseball state championships (fourth-most in state history) while extending their state-leading record of state championships to 248 for all sports. Cherry Creek has defeated No. 7 Rocky Mountain 3-0, No. 6 Regis Jesuit 4-3 and No. 1 Grandview 7-1.
No. 5 Broomfield is after its seventh state baseball championship and first since 2022 as well as the school’s 52nd all-time state championship. The Eagles defeated No. 4 Fossil Ridge 5-2 before losing to No. 1 Grandview 5-4 on Friday, then bounced back to top No. 3 Arvada West 9-6 in a Saturday elimination game.
  • No. 6 Regis Jesuit, runner-up to Cherry Creek last year, has three state baseball championships, with the last coming in 2019. The Raiders have won 75 state championships as a school. Regis Jesuit beat No. 3 Arvada West 11-5 before losing a state-championship rematch against No. 2 Cherry Creek 4-3 on Friday, then recovered for 9-7 win over No. 8 Castle View in a Saturday elimination game.

4A Final Four Teams

  • No. 3 Golden, which was runner-up in 2023, is seeking to win its second-ever baseball title, having also won in 2003. The Demons have five all-time championships as a school. Golden went 3-0 for the weekend, beating No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain 7-4, No. 2 Falcon 13-6 and No. 4 Windsor 12-11.
  • No. 4 Windsor is looking to secure its first-ever state title in baseball and add to the state basketball title it earned in March, which gave the Wizards 24 state championships overall. Windsor beat No. 5 Palisade 9-2 and No. 1 Pueblo County 8-2 on Friday before falling 12-11 to No. 3 Golden on Saturday.
  • No. 5 Palisade has one baseball state championship, which came back in 1969, and eight overall championships — none since 2003. The Bulldogs dropped their opener to No. 4 Windsor 9-2 on Friday, but won twice on Saturday — 14-0 over No. 8 Severance and 7-3 over No. 2 Falcon — to stay alive.
  • No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain has six baseball state championships to its credit, with the last coming in 2011, and the Red-Tailed Hawks have 118 all-time state titles. They lost to No. 3 Golden 7-4 in Friday’s opener but advanced with two elimination-game victories on Saturday — 9-1 over No. 7 Durango and 14-2 over No. 1 Pueblo County.

3A Final Four Teams

  • No. 1 University is looking to break through after finishing as the runner-up in each of the last three state tournaments and add to its all-time total of five baseball crowns, the last of which came in 2019. As a school, the Bulldogs have 28 state championships. University beat No. 8 Valley 5-4 and No. 4 Resurrection Christian 5-2 on Friday before dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 2 Coal Ridge on Saturday.
  • No. 2 Coal Ridge has never won a state title in baseball or in any other boys sport but is on the brink of doing so now, having beaten No. 7 Delta 11-5 and No. 3 Eaton 8-0 on Friday and then topping No. 1 University 3-0 on Saturday. The Titans have nine all-time state championships, eight in spirit and one in girls track (2021).
  • No. 4 Resurrection Christian has two state baseball championships, most recently in 2014, and is looking to add on to its back-to-back state basketball titles that have given the school 13 overall championships. The Cougars beat No. 5 Montezuma-Cortez 1-0 before falling to No. 1 University 5-2 on Friday, then stayed alive Saturday with a 7-1 win over No. 6 The Classical Academy.
  • No. 5 Montezuma-Cortez has just two all-time state championships, both in boys basketball, with the last in 2002. The Panthers lost to No. 4 Resurrection Christian 1-0 Friday, then were on the other side of a 1-0 decision in beating No. 8 Valley in an elimination game Saturday, a day they capped by beating No. 3 defending champion Eaton 9-5.

2A Final Four Teams

  • No. 1 Forge Christian has won three state baseball championships, the last in 2016, and 32 championships overall, including 23 by boys teams. The Fury opened the tournament Friday with wins of 10-5 over No. 8 Monte Vista and 9-1 over No. 5 Highland before Saturday’s 10-0 victory over No. 7 Platte Valley.
  • No. 6 Denver Christian is the two-time defending state champion and has won four baseball championships in all. As a school, the Thunder have 31 championships, including 18 by boys. Denver Christian fell 2-0 to No. 3 on Friday, but won twice in Saturday elimination games — 6-3 over No. 2 Dayspring Christian Academy and 13-9 over No. 5 Highland.
  • No. 7 Platte Valley has one baseball state championship to its credit — way back in 1954. The Broncos have 29 state championships as a school, including seven by boys teams, the last of which was the football team’s 2013 title. Platte Valley beat No. 2 Dayspring Christian Academy 4-1 and No. 3 Fowler 2-1 on Friday before falling Saturday to No. 1 Forge Christian, 10-0.
  • No. 8 Monte Vista has three state championships as a school, all by the boys wrestling team, the last of which came in 2006. The Pirates lost 10-5 to No. 1 Forge Christian on Friday, but won twice in elimination games Saturday — 16-0 over No. 4 Peyton and 2-1 over No. 3 Fowler.
