DENVER — In collaboration with the Denver Broncos, the Colorado High School Activities Association hosted its annual Fall Media Day event at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Tuesday to celebrate the start of CHSAA’s fall seasons.
Nearly 150 students across 43 different sports teams, 34 different schools, and 15 different activities represented their programs at media day. At the event, attendees got to experience a tour of the stadium, receive a media training presentation from the Denver Broncos’ public relations team, participate in photo-shoot sessions, and engage with local media outlets in a press conference setting.
“The Denver Broncos, what they’ve done for all high school athletics – and it’s not just a football thing, and that’s what’s wonderful about it,” said Wray football coach Levi Kramer. “To get on a podium at Empower Field – how cool is that? We’re so appreciative of the Broncos, their ownership, and everything they do for us.”
All of CHSAA’s fall sports and activities were highlighted, with representatives from football, flag football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, softball, boys soccer, field hockey, gymnastics, boys golf, boys tennis, spirit, unified bowling and esports in attendance, as well as CHSAA student leadership state representatives assisting with hosting the event. The CHSAA student leadership representative moderated the press conference portion of the event, ushered participants throughout the stations and several were also interviewed at the press conference.
Many returning state championship teams and student-athletes were involved, such as McClave – the returning 1A state champion in girls volleyball, while other participants included Falcon-Fort Carson’s flag football team, which will compete for the first time this season.
“This was an amazing experience for our girls,” McClave girls volleyball coach Melissa Steinbrunn said. “It’s something these girls will remember forever. It was well-coordinated, well-planned and efficient. They got to take part in something really amazing. I’m really thankful to CHSAA for putting something like this together. It was great for all the teams that were here.”
