Volleyball rankings: Castle View, Yuma take over top spots

Castle View (in Class 5A) and Yuma (in 2A) are new No. 1 teams in this week’s volleyball rankings.

Prairie View (in Class 5A), Holy Family (in 4A) and Basalt (in 3A) all joined their respective softball rankings this week.

Austin Bertron threw three touchdown passes and Blayden Fletcher ran for another three as North Park hung on to get a 41-36 win over La Veta.

Fruita Monument jumped into the Class 5A volleyball rankings this week, arriving at No. 10.

This week’s softball rankings saw Legend and Columbine (5A), as well as Discovery Canyon and Thomas Jefferson (4A) join the polls.

Greeley West football beat Longmont to move to 2-0 on Thursday night, taking down Class 3A’s top-ranked Trojans.

Thomas Jefferson football improved to 2-0 with a 68-0 win over Pueblo Central.

Castle View (No. 4), Fort Collins (No. 6) and Highlands Ranch (No. 9) shook-up a new-look poll in Class 5A volleyball this week.

No. 9 Thomas Jefferson volleyball got by ThunderRidge on Monday, 3-2, in its first match of the season.

The Denver Prep League played its second match of the year at Kennedy Course and it was Denver East who came away with the win.
