The girls soccer state tournament brackets were released on Sunday, and Mountain Vista, Evergreen, Colorado Academy and Vail Mountain each earned top overall seeds.

Vail Mountain leads the first-ever Class 2A field. That classification is playing for the first time this season.

The Gore Rangers are 13-1-0 this season with their lone loss coming to Denver Christian on March 27. Denver Christian (9-5-1) is the No. 4 seed. Front Range Christian is No. 2, Dawson is No. 3 and Colorado Springs School rounds out the top five.

The 2A field is comprised of 12 teams, with seeds Nos. 1-4 getting a first-round bye. The tournament begins play on Tuesday, with the championship May 19 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

See the full 2A bracket here.

In 5A, Mountain Vista has earned the top overall seed. The Golden Eagles (13-2-0) will host No. 32 Rangeview to begin the 32-team tournament on Tuesday.

Grandview is the No. 2 seed, and is followed by No. 3 ThunderRidge, No. 4 Broomfield and No. Pine Creek.

The 5A championship is also played at Dick’s, and is May 20.

Find the entire 5A bracket here.

Evergreen (14-1-0) heads the 4A field, which is also comprised of 32 teams. It opens with No. 32 seed Canon City.

Other top-5 seeds in 4A include The Classical Academy, Cheyenne Mountain, Battle Mountain and Windsor.

The 4A tournament begins play on Wednesday. It’s championship is May 20, also at Dick’s.

The full 4A bracket is here.

In 3A, Colorado Academy sits atop the bracket. That class is now playing a 24-team bracket following the addition of 2A.

It means the top eight seeds will all get a bye in the first round, which is slated for Friday. The 3A title game is May 19 at Dick’s.

Teams with first-round byes, besides CA, include No. 2 The Academy, No. 3 Jefferson Academy, No. 4 Kent Denver, No. 5 Peak to Peak, No. 6 Frontier Academy, No. 7 Liberty Common and No. 8 Middle Park.

Evergreen, which was upset by Valor Christian, dropped to No. 3. Valor is No. 2 this week.

The other three No. 1 teams — ThunderRidge (5A), Colorado Academy (3A) and Front Range Christian (2A) — all remain the same.

In 5A, Cherry Creek joined this week’s ranking. The Bruins came in at No. 9.

Columbine, last year’s Class 5A champion, returned to the girls soccer rankings this week.

The Rebels (7-2-0) are No. 8 in CHSAANow.com’s 5A poll, and actually just won a title game rematch with Ralston Valley last week.

There was a lot of shakeup to the 5A rankings, including Mountain Vista’s rise to No. 2 after beating last week’s No. 2 Rock Canyon.

Grandview also made a big jump in going from No. 8 to No. 4.

Other newcomers this week include No. 9 Cheyenne Mountain and No. 10 Littleton in 4A; and No. 9 Middle Park in 3A.

A week after three new No. 1 teams dotted the rankings, all four top teams held firm in their respective classifications. Those are ThunderRidge (5A), Evergreen (4A), Colorado Academy (3A) and Front Range Christian (2A).

  • Rock Canyon, The Classical Academy new top-ranked teams in girls soccer

Rock Canyon is the new No. 1 team in this week’s Class 5A girls soccer ranking. The Jaguars received six of the 10 first-place votes from CHSAANow.com’s voters.

But that turned out to be just the start of the upheaval in 5A, where five teams received at least one first-place vote.

Arapahoe jumped from No. 9 to No. 2, and four newcomers joined the poll this week. Those new teams: No. 4 ThunderRidge, No. 6 Broomfield, No. 7 Grandview and No. 10 Fairview.

Mountain Vista is No. 3 this week, and Pine Creek is No. 5.

Things weren’t much more stable in 4A, where The Classical Academy vaulted from unranked to No. 1. Evergreen went from sixth to second, Valor Christian from eighth to third and Ponderosa from unranked to fourth.

Wheat Ridge (No. 9) also joined the 4A poll this week.

The No. 1 teams in 3A (Colorado Academy) and 2A (Front Range Christian) did stay put this week.

The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association.

Complete rankings for both classes are below.
