The Class 3A boys and girls basketball Great 8 is on Thursday at the Colorado School of Mines.

A couple of surprises were in store for the 3A class as some unexpected teams advanced to next week’s Great 8 at School of Mines.

ThunderRidge took down No. 1 Regis Jesuit last week, and took over the top spot in the Class 5A boys basketball poll this week.

There are three new teams in the Class 4A girls basketball rankings this week.

Rangeview has joined this week’s Class 5A boys basketball ranking at No. 10.

Sand Creek has joined the Class 4A girls basketball rankings at No. 9 this week.

Class 3A No. 5 Jefferson Academy boys basketball upset No. 1 Lutheran, 56-53, handing them their second loss of the season Wednesday night.

For the second straight week, there’s a new team atop the Class 3A boys basketball rankings.

Canon City is the new No. 1 team in CHSAANow.com’s Class 4A girls basketball rankings.

Lutheran wideout Josh Clausen, who climbed the career receiving records during his time in high school, committed to Wyoming on Monday night.
