  • Cherry Creek claims top spot in 5A soccer poll

    Cherry Creek has jumped to the top of the CHSAANow.com boys soccer poll in Class 5A.

    That ranking added three new teams this week: Grandview, Rocky Mountain and Ralston Valley

    There is also a new No. 1 team in 3A: The Classical Academy.

  • 5A softball ranking narrows at the top

    Eaglecrest held onto its spot atop the CHSAANow.com softball poll, but things are getting close at the top of the Class 5A ranking.

    Four different teams received first-place votes this week: Brighton (No. 2), Douglas County (No. 3) and Fossil Ridge (No. 5). Loveland was the lone newcomer to the poll, at tenth.

  • Wheat Ridge new No. 1 team in 4A softball ranking

    Wheat Ridge has overtaken Pueblo East atop the Class 4A CHSAANow.com softball poll.

    The Farmers, off to an 8-0-0 start, were No. 2 last week but moved up to No. 1 by virtue of a 6-0-0 week which included a 7-2 victory over Pueblo East, last week’s top-ranked team.

    Elsewhere, Douglas County went from unranked to No. 3 in the 5A poll, which also added Ralston Valley (No. 8) and Fossil Ridge (No. 9).

    Strasburg continued to lead the 3A poll.

  • Returning powers top boys cross country’s preseason rankings

    Three defending champions head the preseason boys cross country polls released on Tuesday.

    Mountain Vista (5A), Coronado (4A) and Lyons (2A) won championships in their respective classifications last season and opened 2013 at the top spot in the Colorado Track XC/CHSAANow.com boys cross country rankings.

    Frontier Academy is the top-ranked team in 3A.

  • Smoky Hill heads 5A boys soccer’s preseason ranking

    Smoky Hill, coming off a runner-up appearance in the Class 5A final last season, is the No. 1 team in the CHSAANow.com boys soccer preseason poll.

    Boulder, the defending 5A champion, is second to begin the season. The Panthers’ cross-town rival, Fairview, is third.

    Battle Mountain (4A) and Colorado Academy (3A) lead their classifications’ respective preseason rankings.
