Resurrection Christian Captures 3A Speech & Debate State Championship

NIWOT – In just the second year of having a sweepstakes series, Resurrection Christian took home the team title in the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 3A Speech and Debate State Championship Friday and Saturday at Niwot High School. The Cougars also captured the speech sweepstakes, which goes to the team with the most points in the speech categories, while Eagle Valley took home the debate sweepstakes.

The Many Faces of CHSAA Leadership- Natalie Muñoz-Garcia

This week we sit down with Natalie Muñoz-Garcia. Natalie is an Assistant Principal and the Activities Director at Ponderosa High School. With thirty years in education and twelve years in her current role, the Colorado State University graduate still enjoys coming to work every day. This year, Natalie is looking forward to working with her 2nd year principal, continuing to provide students with opportunities, and creating new traditions.

Limon Students Come Together to Showcase Their Leadership Acumen

LIMON – On Friday, Oct. 6, Limon High School was the host of the CHSAA Student Leadership Fall Summit for the second time in three years. Over 160 students representing 18 schools from the Front Range and Eastern Plains attended the conference. This year’s keynote speaker was actor, author and inspirational speaker, Johan Khalilian. Khalilian told the students that they would face challenges and that life will be difficult at times, but in those difficult times they get to decide what kind of leaders they want to be. The Badger Leaders, working closely with Limon High School counselor and CHSAA Student Leadership Advisory Committee member, Mrs. Shirelle Bandy, organized events, and break-out sessions that challenged the students to lead by stepping up, working hard through tough times, and connecting to others.
