As a high school student leader, I always seek opportunities to learn and grow. When I was offered the chance to shadow CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger for a day, I knew it would be an invaluable experience. Little did I know just how many leadership lessons I would absorb in such a short time. From professional communication to the challenges of running a large organization, the day provided insights that will undoubtedly shape my own leadership journey.

Over 360 student leaders and advisers from across the Poudre School District gathered today to hear from one of the nation’s top youth motivational speakers, Scott Bakovich. The Colorado High School Activities Association is proud to announce the selection of State Representatives for the 2023-2024 school year. These representatives will carry on the tradition of lending a student voice to the association by sitting on select committees, raising student participation/awareness of the CHSAA’s mission and vision, and growing their individual skills as leaders within their own school communities and across the state.
Many Colorado student leadership advisers and school administrators are using this week as an opportunity to attend the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA) State Convention. This convention is the largest event in the nation for Activities Directors. As stated on their website, “The CADA organization is the number one organization in the United States for teaching and developing leadership skills students will use for the rest of their lives as they learn to serve their schools, communities, and families.”
For Eaglecrest junior Syndey Crouthers (pictured front row, right), leadership is not always about being the most expressive or assertive person in the room. Sydney is an executive officer for our CHSAA State Representatives, EHS Junior Class President, and is a member of the school’s Unified Bowling team.
