Back in the fall of 2000, The Classical Academy didn’t even have enough runners to field a team. Now the program is a state power.
Participation in high school sports increased for the 24th consecutive year in 2012-13 and passed the 7.7 million mark for the first time.
One million concussion courses have now been taken by coaches and other individuals since the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed the online course in May 2010.
Major changes in substitution procedures in high school boys lacrosse will take effect with the 2014 season. For stoppages of play due to an out-of-bounds ball, a horn will no longer be sounded to allow time for substitution. Instead, players may substitute “on the fly” as they can during normal play.
In an organizational meeting yesterday, representatives of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and PlayOn! Sports (PlayOn) completed all legal and financial arrangements to officially start the NFHS Network.
