The Colorado High School Activities Association is like one big extended family, and last month, CHSAA lost a beloved member of its family.

I am joined this week by Bethany Brookens, CHSAA’s Associate Commissioner. Bethany is a Davidson College graduate, who also holds an MBA from the University of Colorado Denver. She is in her 16th year at CHSAA, where amongst her other administrative duties, she oversees basketball, skiing, tennis and volleyball.

The Colorado High School Activities Association is presenting new bylaw proposals and committee reports to the CHSAA’s Legislative Council, the democratic arm of the association, on Tuesday, April 23, at the DCSD Legacy Campus.

With the 2023-24 winter season in the books, we have updated our official CHSAA State Championship Archives.

Ray Plutko, who served as comissioner of the Colorado High School Activities Association from 1986-1990, has passed away at the age of 85.

March is Women’s History Month and provides yet another opportunity to highlight the many faces of leadership throughout the CHSAA membership. Our hope is that by taking a small glimpse into the window of their leadership background, you will gain a greater understand of why they are such strong advocates for the vision and core values of the Colorado High School Activities Association.

Our series takes us to Stratton High School for a conversation with Shelby Thompson, the school district’s Athletic Director. Shelby has been in education for eight years and has been in her current position for five years. Shelby attended Chadron State College, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Sports & Rec Management & Exercise Science.
