Colorado High School Activities Association associate commissioner Tom Robinson passed away Monday morning following a short battle with multiple diagnoses.

The college version of March Madness concludes this coming weekend with the NCAA men’s basketball semifinals and finals from New Orleans and the corresponding women’s championships in Minneapolis. To the knowledgeable high school sports historian, however, the original March Madness has played out this month with the conclusion of state high school basketball tournaments in the 50 states plus the District of Columbia.

One of the familiar sentiments expressed during the pandemic was, “I will be glad when things return to normal.” Now, two years removed from the March 2020 shutdown, we are tryin gto remember what “normal” was and whether that is still the best way to move forward.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has entered into a new corporate partnership with the American Cancer Society through a multi-year agreement. 

One of the keys to a successful high school sports – or performing arts – season is for coaches, athletic directors and other school administrators to establish a positive connection with parents of student participants. 

The Colorado High School Activities Association will soon have a new leader. That leader has now been chosen.

On a cold and snowy night, the 41st-seeded Rifle Bears (11-13) girls basketball team traveled to face 24th-seed Montrose (12-12) in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament.
