Several times in this column the past three years, the NFHS has shared concrns about the declining number of officials for high school sports. Last fall, in fact, the headline state that the officiating shortage had reached crisis level across the country. A recent survey now provides solid proof for those concerns.
DALLAS (February 15, 2022) – Today USA Cheer announced the election of Rhonda Blanford-Green as president of its board of directors. Nationally recognized as a leader in youth sports, Blanford-Green originally joined USA Cheer’s board in 2008 and prior to being named president served as the board’s secretary. Professionally, Blanford-Green most recently served as commissioner of the Colorado High School Activities Association. She succeeds outgoing president and co-founder of USA Cheer Bill Seely, who will retain a seat on the governing body’s board.

Davis likes to reminisce because it helps him remember what it was like to be starting high school, and what could have made him feel more welcome, more supported, and—ultimately—more successful in his new building.
